Water Steam Versus Sauna

In the hot and steamy debate of

water steam versus sauna

, it is very important to first understand the difference between both the hot baths and later how beneficial these baths can be to us.

Sauna


Steam Room:

A steam room has a steam generator device that boils the water into vapor and then releases it into the room atmosphere. The temperature of steam room ranges from 110 to 114 degree Fahrenheit with 100% humidity level.


Sauna:

Sauna room uses hot rocks to create heat. The temperature of sauna room usually ranges from 160 to 200 degree Fahrenheit with very low humidity level.

The major difference between the steam room and the sauna room is that one is wet and the later is dry.


Room Construction

The steam and sauna room interiors are entirely different mainly because of their heating procedures.


Steam room:

The steam rooms are designed in such a way that it can hold the moisture created. Hence ceramic tiles or marble is often used for the room construction.


Sauna:

The sauna rooms are usually made up of wood and consists of wooden benches for sitting.

The heat created by both the rooms promotes sweating and we all know that sweating plays a major role in keeping us healthy. It not only helps to regulate the body temperature but also helps in eliminating the waste material and other impurities through the skin. Hence, skin is also known as “third kidney”.

For instance, a person having respiratory problem, should opt for a steam room as it would help to clear his sinus and airway passage.

Whereas the dry sauna is a better choice for person suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. Dry sauna also helps to boosts the immune system.



Caution:

Dry sauna may dehydrate one’s body. Hence, drink plenty of fresh water before and after using the sauna. Also, steam rooms provides ideal conditions for bacteria and infections. Hence always use fresh towel.
