Water Conservation

Water is one of the most precious resources made available by the nature. Life originates through water.

Water Conservation means utilizing the given amount of water in optimum manner by using it carefully and wisely.A Making proper use of water would ensure adequate supply of water in future. If we all make a small effort on our part, we can provide sufficient water for our future generations.

Here, you can find few easy ways of saving water.

Check for Leakage

Unknowingly, huge amount of water is wasted through leaking drips. Replacing the leaking faucet with low flow of water can save gallons of water.

Saving water in Bathroom:

  • Turn off the tap while brushing the teeth.
  • Turn off the tap while shaving and rinse the razor in a mug of water.
  • While taking a bath, do not waste the cold water while waiting for the hot water. Instead, collect the cold water in a bucket and use it to water the plants.
  • Reduce the time spent under shower by 2 minutes and you can save approximately 250 gallons of water per month. Use low flow showers.
  • Throw the tissues in trash instead of flushing them down.
  • Turn off the tap nozzle tightly after use.

Preserving water in Kitchen:

  • Wash the fruits and vegetables in a pot of water rather than under the running faucet. This would help to save a good amount of water. Later, this can be used to water the plants.
  • Reuse the same glass for drinking water that would reduce the number of glasses to be washed.
  • Turn off the tap while rinsing the utensils.

Managing water outdoors:

  • Water the plants either during early morning or in the late evenings in order to prevent it from evaporating.
  • Use soaker hoses instead of sprinklers while watering the plants.
  • Fix the broken pipes and sprinklers immediately.
  • Ensure that swimming pools and fountains are equipped with re-circulating device.
  • To clear the waste for sidewalks, use brooms and not water.

Water conservation not only protects the environment but also provides us with better quality of drinking water. Every drop saved counts in the long run. Save water, for the future.
