. This condition is characterized by the loss of electrolytes and water from the body. The electrolytes include potassium, chloride and sodium, which are essential for the proper functioning of the body. One of the primary cause of dehydration is not drinking adequate water to sustain healthy levels. Chronic and severe form of dehydration is potentially life threatening. Sudden Dehydration Headache Causes

  • Headache due to excessive water loss which is caused by heat stroke, burns, heavy menstrual bleeding, diarrhea and vomiting.
  • After drinking excessive amount of alcohol, an throbbing, intense headache appears. This is known as hangover. This headache aggravates when one moves around or bends down. Hangover is accompanied by diarrhea, sensitivity to light, fatigue, nausea and thirst.

  • If you don’t drink enough water, then you might experience an occasional pressure-like headache.

  • Avoid excessive amounts of caffeine and alcohol
  • Try to avoid doing heavy physical work in hot weather
  • Maintain a regular eating schedule, if you experience chronic headaches
  • Most importantly, drink enough water to keep you body hydrated. You should drink nearly 2 liters of water every day.

Treatment for Dehydration Headache

The treatment for headache caused by dehydration generally depends on the exact cause. If you are healthy otherwise, then you should drink sufficient water. You can drink one glass of water in every 30 minutes or so. Avoid drinking alcohol, caffeinated drinks, black tea and coffee when you experience any symptoms of dehydration headache.
