Ciguatera poisoning is a form of seafood poisioning which is primarily caused by eating contaminated fish, especially specific tropical reef fish. These contaminated fish contain either one or more neurotoxins from the family of maititoxins and ciguatoxins. These are naturally occurring neurotoxins.
