Things You Require

  • Pot
  • Storage container
  • Stirrer
  • 8 ounces of water
  • Heating device
  • Half teaspoon of baking soda
  • Eye dropper
  • One teaspoon salt

Make the Saline Water Solution

Here are the steps to make the saline water solution:

  1. Turn on the stove and keep the pot.
  2. Pour the required amount of water and heat it. But be careful to check that the water does not boil.
  3. Before the water starts boiling, take the pot off the stove and then add the baking soda and salt into the water.
  4. Keep stirring until the baking soda and salt are completely diluted. When done, the saline solution should have a cloudy appearance.
  5. Let it cool to room temperature.
  6. Pour the saline water from the pot into a dry and sterile plastic storage container. The approximate amount of saline water should be 1 pint or 8 oz.

Apply the Saline Water on a Wound

Here are the steps on how to apply the saline water on a wound:

  1. Take the eye dropper and fill it with saline water. Drop it into the wound to clean it properly. Use the saline water till the wound is completely clean and is no longer bleeding.
  2. With gentle touch, apply gauze on to the clean wound. This absorbs the saline water.
  3. Dress the wound and remember to clean and dress the wound again if necessary.
