  • Blood consists of 83% water
  • Bone consists of 22% water
  • Brain consists of 90% water

Water Intake During Pregnancy

Women are usually advised to drink water before they undergo sonography as to keep their bladder full. Hence, it is imperative for pregnant women to drink sufficient amount of water to get a good result of the test. Otherwise also, during the pregnancy and lactation period, expectant mothers should drink 8-12 glasses of water each day.

Breastfeeding women

should drink nearly 2.3 liters of water. Also, this water can be taken in different forms of liquid like milk shakes, soups or juices. This quantity or amount of water varies from individual to individual as this depends on the physical activity, diet, weight and overall health of the mother.

As the fetus requires a constant supply of body fluids for its growth and nourishment, expectant women should drink plenty amount of water. Water makes a healthy prenatal environment for the growing fetus. Hence, it is very important that during their pregnancy, women should drink sufficient amount of water to maintain a good health for herself as well as the baby.
