Water Deionization

Deionized water is one which does not have any dissolved solids in them. The method of deionization is used for distilling the water and make it pure enough for drinking. Deionized water can be defined as that water which has no ions in it. It is for the same reason that it is called as deionized water.

The deionised water is considered as the best water for drinking purposes. There are various systems available which initiates the process of water deionization.

Process Of Water Deionization:

The process of deionization exchange of ions is involved and a reversible process takes place in which impure ion is replaced by the pure ion released by the resin of the water purification tank. The impure ion which is taken up by the resin is restored and regenerated into the pure ionic form.

There are two methods of deionization. They are:

Two a�� Bed Ionozation:

The two bed deionizer contains two containers. Out of these, one container has a resin of cation exchange in hydrogen form and the other has anion resin in hydroxyl form. So the flow of water is done through the cation part. Here, all the cations will be exchanged for the hydrogen ions. In order, to maintain the electric balance in the water, every monovalent is exchanged with the divalent cation. For example Ca+2 ion is exchanged with the 2 atoms of hydrogen. Now, this same process will be repeated when the water moves into the anion part. All the decationised ions are exchanged with the hydroxide ions and combine to deionised water.

Mixed a�� Bed Deionization:

In this process, both the resins of catinization and anionization is done in one single vessel. As both the resins are in one single container, the process of ionization becomes long and complicated. So, the quality of water is not as good as that of two bed concept.
