Why Should We Save Water

We all know that water is the most important elements of nature and we all depend on water for our survival. More than 70% of the earth’s surface is surrounded with water but this is all sea water. Has anyone ever wondered why should we save water. This is a question that we all need to answer. Fresh drinking water is quite limited and we get pure water is in the form rain water, flowing rivers, lakes, ponds, underground water and water from the mountains.
But things have changed and over a period of time. Since the population has increased at a very fast rate we are all facing a water shortage. The ecosystem has changed and this has resulted in many problems. People who stay in rural areas are falling short of drinking water because a lot of wells and ponds have gone dry and people end up walking long distances to draw water. When it comes to urban areas the water distribution system is doing its best to supply clean drinking water in houses but even they are facing a lot of problem.

Two important reasons for water shortage

Increase in Population:

Ever since there has been an increase in the population there has been a shortage of water supply because everyone wants clean drinking water. The more number of people the more the demand increases.

Cutting of Trees:

Over the past few years people have been cutting a lot of trees. This has brought a major change in the ecobalance in the nature. Trees are the ones that help to get more amount of rainfall. The amount of rain has decreased over a period of years.

Saving Water

  • Whenever we use water from natural water bodies or from a public distribution its always good to use water till the end use.
  • Its everyone duty to save water and make the best use of it so that there is no water shortage and it comes into use for agricultural purpose.
  • Avoid wastage of water as this will help in equal distribution in towns and cities and everyone will get an enough water
