How Long Can You Live Without Water

A very weird thought would have crossed our minds at some point of time in our lives. What if we get stranded in a desert and there is no water, so for how long would be able to survive with it. There are many people who have survived without food but the thought of surviving without water for a day seems a little impossible. To survive without water seems difficult for all living beings which includes plants and animals as well. Other than oxygen, water is the second most important element.

How long can a person survive without water?

For any normal person to maintain a balance of health and efficiency in the body he/she would require at least two quarters of water per day. This is the basic rule any person should follow for his survival but again it depends on the temperature of the environment. The atmospheric weather keeps changing so sometimes its very hot, cold or even very dry. In such situation its not possible to maintain two quarters of water per day to survive for days or weeks.
The human body temperature also keeps changing. We loose a lot of water through sweating, respiration and other activities. Water is required to maintain an average body temperature. The higher the temperature, the more water you would need.

Effects of Surviving without Water:

Since two third of the human body is composed of water, this water is used by the body for respiration and converting food to energy. The main reason for dehydration is when your body needs more water and you drink less and thus the blood becomes thicker and loses volumes. This impacts in inefficiency of the heart and the circulation of the blood. In extreme cases this could lead a person to death. Not drinking enough of water can lead to poor health conditions, panic and shock and reduces a persons survival.
